book synopsis/description:

"If a journey is moving from one place to another, it is also all the things in between that happen along the way. It is the belly tingle of the dawn at first summer, the sound of birdsong mingling with traffic, the scent of my lover's skin at the end of the day's journey. Perhaps, it is my own still small voice, my inner burning bush and arc of refuge carrying me above my own emotional depth. Perhaps it is the spaces between, and the containers we all fit into. Coldnoon guides me to all these places with safe hands." - Lisa Thatcher

Coldnoon is a bi-yearly print journal and a quarterly online journal (at www.coldnoon.com) of Travel Poetics. It was launched online on September 23, 2011. It publishes poetry as well as from genres of non-fiction such as memoirs and travelogues, dialogues and monologues, soliloquies and monographs, academic papers and essays, and so on. Coldnoon envisions travel not as flux but instead as gaps in travelling itself. Coldnoon means a shadowed instant in time when the inertia of motion of images, thoughts and spectacles comes to rest upon a still and cold moment. Our travels are not of trade or imagining communities, they are towards the reporting of purposeless and unselfconscious narratives the human mind experiences when left in a vacuum between terminals of travel.
